"20.5. Dynamic Data Structures The C standard library does not provide a variety of advanced, dynamic data structures such as linked lists or sets. As of C89 and POSIX.1 the C standard library does provide hash tables and binary search trees, but does not require implementations of other dynamic data structures. Instead, you must either implement your own or utilize a third-party library such as glibc, the GNU C library ( http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/ )."
