Concept
Why does each block link to the previous block?
chapter 5 / Building the Blockchain
"When a miner finds a valid block hash, the new block includes the hash of the preceding block and receives the next sequential block number. Because even a minor change to underlying data would alter its hash, changing an earlier block would disrupt the mathematical links connecting it to every later block. This structure makes the blockchain highly resistant to tampering because an altered history would no longer match the chain recognized by the network."
