Tidy Data

Quantitative Problem Solving in Natural Resources / Interlude: Collecting and Managing Data

"Tidy data are organized in a rectangular structure in which each column represents a variable and each row represents an observation. A dataset becomes difficult to analyze when multiple variables are mixed in one column, the same variable is spread across columns, or columns contain different numbers and types of values. Converting such data into tidy form makes it easier to sort, filter, summarize, and analyze with software."
