"A health disparity exists when a health outcome occurs to a greater or lesser extent between populations. Race, ethnicity, sex, sexual identity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, and geographic location can all affect a person’s ability to achieve good health. Health disparities are closely linked with social, economic, and environmental disadvantages and with historically unequal access to opportunities and care."
