"Aisha narrated that during a journey with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), her necklace was lost at Al-Baida' or Dhatul-Jaish. There was no water, so Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stayed to search for it. When dawn came and there was still no water, Allah revealed the Divine Verses of Tayammum, and they all performed Tayammum. The necklace was then found beneath the camel. Aisha also narrated that when a necklace was lost and the time of prayer arrived without water, they prayed and informed Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), after which the verse of Tayammum was revealed. Usaid bin Hudair said that Allah brought good for the Muslims through the event. The Prophet (ﷺ) also said that the earth was made a place for prayer and a means of performing Tayammum, so anyone from his followers could pray when the time of prayer arrived."
