"Exposing the uncertainty in space travel. NASA's facing a dilemma with astronaut Sunita Williams' return from the ISS. Sunita Williams' mission aboard the International Space Station was supposed to be a short one. She arrived on June 6th, 2024, on Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. But now, her return date is a giant question mark. Technical issues with the Starliner, from thruster malfunctions to helium leaks, have thrown a wrench in the plans. NASA is in a tough spot, weighing the risks and benefits of their options. Option one, bring the Starliner back to Earth uncrewed and leave Williams on the ISS until early 2025. Not ideal, but possible. The ISS has enough supplies, and Williams is in good spirits continuing her work seamlessly with the crew. Option two, use SpaceX's Crew Dragon to bring Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore back early next year. This could be a blow to Boeing, but might be the safest bet for the astronauts. NASA's final decision is expected by the end of August "
