"The Summmerians were one of the most influential and ancient civilizations, often considered the first known human civilization to develop writing cities and advanced technology, the Summmerian civilization from around 4500 BCE to 1900 BCE. They lived in the southern part of Mesopotamia, an area known as Sumer, which is present-day southern Iraq. The Sumerians built their cities along the Tigriss and Euphrates rivers, which provided fertile land for agriculture, making it one of the world's earliest urban centers. The Sumerians developed one of the earliest known writing systems, cuneiform. The Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the world's earliest known works of literature, was written in cuneiform. This allowed them to create a law code and establish legal systems such as the Code of Eramu, which predates the Code of Arabi by centuries. They also invented the wheel, which revolutionized transport and irrigation, which was a key technology to boost farming by using canals, bags, and reservoirs to control the flow of water from the Tigriss and Euphrates rivers. In addition they were pioneers in mathematics and developed a sexagismimal based 60 system which is still used for this day in measuring angles and is why our hours have 60 minutes and our minutes have 60 seconds. They also invented the concept of 300 and 60 degrees and divided the year into 12 months. "
