I get asked all the time, how long do I need to water my field? How long should I run the drip? You can have a great fertility program, have ample nutrients out here. You can have the best spray program, but if your field ain't getting enough water, you're not going to grow a very good crop. My cue that I use for watering is I look for water to start seeping out from in between these rows. That tells me that the bed is saturated to the point that it can't hold any more water and water is starting to come out from underneath the beds. That's how long I run the irrigation. It's going to depend on your soil type as far as how long that takes. But this field has been running about seven hours this morning to get it to the point where it just started to seep out from underneath the plastic. That is how long I run the water for.
