I regret majoring in computer science and it has nothing to do with jobs. Sometimes I wish I would have majored in something like math or physics or electrical engineering for a few big reasons. First and biggest reason is that I feel like I could have learned a lot of these computer science concepts just as well by myself online without having to do a degree for it. But I think with math or physics is a lot harder for me to self educate on that. And even though I probably would have gotten a lower GPA if I majored in them, I think I would have learned a lot more. Same thing with electrical engineering, it's a lot harder to learn that outside of class than it is to learn how a hash map works. Still could have gotten a software engineering internship even if I majored in those things, which means I would have got the job that I enjoyed while learning a whole lot more. Second reason is very closely related to the first. I feel like a lot of the people in CS degrees are kind of only in it to get a software engineering job and then make 200k out of college and then be a baller. Though I'm kind of on the same wavelength, I wish more people were passionate about it. Being in it for the money is not a bad thing. Do whatever gets you your bag, but I feel like there are a lot less math majors that are in it for the money. That being said, I still love being a CS major.
