How to define a variable in Python? In C programming, this is how we can define and initialize a variable. Here we have defined variable x which is of type integer and we have assigned it the value 10. Notice that variable x is of type integer and we need to specify this data type. And we need to end the statement with semicolon as well in C programming. But this is not what we do in Python programming. In Python programming language, we do not have to specify the data type. We can directly write the name of the variable followed by the assignment operator and then the value which we want to assign to it. So the same variable X can be defined and initialized in Python programming like this. Notice that we do not have to specify the data type in case of Python programming because Python is dynamically typed language. It automatically determines the type of the variable at runtime. And there is no need to put the semicolon at the end of the statement as well. So this is how we can define a variable in Python. Now what if we want to know the type of the variable? This is also straightforward. We can know the type with the help of the type function like this. Here to the type function, we can pass the variable which we want to know the type of. Here we have passed the variable x to know its type. By execution, we will get the output as class int, because the type of this variable is int as it is storing an integer value. So this is how we can know the type of the variable and I hope it is clear how to define a variable in python. Want to learn python? Follow our Python programming course.
