What are pointers? In a computer memory, the values are stored in memory locations. Say integer 4 at 0xf1. Now a pointer is something that simply stores the memory address of another value and no actual value. Basically an arrow pointing to another memory location that you can use to reference the actual value. But why? Think of it like your debit card. Your debit card doesn't hold any money but it points to your bank account. Making it more efficient than carrying actual money. Likewise, pointers make it efficient to access and manipulate large data without needing to duplicate it or pass it around. But in my case it's pretty easy to carry cash. As it's null.
