Windows offers broad compatibility with enterprise tools and is often the default in large organizations. It's especially strong if you need to use Microsoft-centric tools like Power BI or SQL Server Management Studio. For most corporate environments, Windows is the standard. However, many data scientists prefer Macs for their Unix-based system, which is very similar to Linux, the backbone of most cloud and server environments. This makes it easier to use command line tools, manage Python environments, and deploy code to production servers. Python, or, and most open source data science libraries, work seamlessly on both platforms, but Macs can make it easier to set up certain development environments. On the flip side, if you value portability, battery life and the Apple ecosystem, Mac is a strong contender. Ultimately, if you want maximum flexibility and compatibility with corporate tools, Windows is your best bet. If you prefer a Unix-like environment and value, design and portability, Mac is a great choice for data science. Just be ready to troubleshoot the occasional compatibility issue.
