Hello everybody, I am Prof. Vignesh Muthuvijayan, a faculty at IIT Madras. Today, I wanted to talk to you about the revolution which is happening in front of our eyes, driven by artificial intelligence. So this AI revolution has taken us by storm. Things are changing every day. So does that mean all of us have to become AI engineers or is AI going to take our jobs? That's not the case. AI will not take our jobs, but someone trained in AI will take the jobs of professionals who do not know AI. So it is important that any professional, any student picks up the skills. Just like how in the 90s and early 2000s learning computers and programming was important. Today learning AI is a critical skill. So whether you are a student who is pursuing another degree or a working professional, picking up AI skills will keep you current and relevant in the job market. For this purpose, IIT Madras has started a four-year BS degree with multiple exits in the domain of data science and applications. There is no GE required for this program. Instead, we have a qualifier process. There is a four-week in-built training. Anyone who applies does not have to go for any other coaching. We will provide the training that is required to appear for the Qualifier exam to enable students and working professionals to pursue this degree along with whatever they might be doing another degree or working. This program is offered online for content delivery. However, exams are conducted in person to make sure that the IIT quality and rigor are maintained. So this ensures highly skilled professionals being trained through this program. This applications of AI will help you not just in engineering.
