This is a broccoli farmer in Hokkaido, Japan, and he figured out how to use AI to automate his entire farm. His name is Heroki Tamayasu. And even though he was never taught how to drive tractors or grow vegetables, he's built an entire software system to digitize his farm, all without knowing how to code. For example, Heroki wanted to find a way to automate his fuel work. But typically, self-driving tractors like these are super expensive. So instead, he figured out how to build a GPS auto steer system that drives his tractor for him at a fraction of the cost. He's also built bots for automating his greenhouse, software for tracking his plant logs. He's even using satellite imagery to figure out which fields and crops are performing the best. And all of that is powered by Chad GPT and Codex that he works with every single day. Now, Huroki describes using AI like getting access to an ultra talented engineer that is always by his side. And the coolest part about his story is that he's live documenting all of his AI farm experiments on this website. That includes his learnings, what he's building and step by step tutorials for all other farmers that want to do it for themselves. These are hands down my favorite type of AI stories, 'cause it really shows how inventive people can get when they get access to the world's best tools. Follow along for more tech and AI stories like this, and shout out to Heroki.
