This broccoli farmer just used chat GPT to automate his entire 100 hectare farm in Japan. And he did this without any engineering or agriculture background. Meet Hiroki Tomiasu, a former public servant in Hokkaido, who taught himself farming from scratch. Today, he manages broccoli, pumpkins, green onions and soybeans across land, roughly 21 times the size of Tokyo Dome. Normally, automating a farm at that scale means buying expensive proprietary machinery and hiring specialized engineers. So instead, Hiroki turned to chat GPT and Codex and basically treated it like having an elite engineer sitting right next to him. So now when his broccoli shows weird black spots, he just photographs it and gets an instant diagnosis before deciding if it's serious enough to call a specialist. He pulled satellite vegetation data and built his own map overlay to see exactly how every plot on his farm is doing. And the most insane part, he used Codex to wire up an ESP32 chip to his greenhouse vents and connected it to a chat bot, so now his team just types open or close in a messaging app and the vents move on their own. He basically replaced systems that would normally cost millions of yen using cheap parts and AI as his personal engineer. And this is exactly where AI is heading. It's not staying inside our laptops anymore, it's quietly turning regular people into engineers in their own fields. And for more such AI content, follow 100x.
