This is why Thailand's agriculture ranks among the best in the world. They dig long canals beside the grape vines with the grape trellises built above and the water running through the middle. These canals can drain water and also store water. Thailand gets a lot of rain, so if the vineyard were just flat ground, one heavy storm could leave the roots sitting in water and cause them to rot. But with these canals, the extra rain water can quickly flow away, so the grape roots do not stay soaked for too long. When the weather gets hot, the water in the canals also helps keep the vineyard humid, and harvesting becomes much easier. Workers can put the freshly picked grapes directly into small boats instead of carrying basket after basket by hand. The boat moves along the canal like a transportation line inside the vineyard. It saves labor and also helps keep the grapes from getting crushed. They also came up with a special spraying boat. In a regular vineyard, workers either carry backpack sprayers row by row or drive machines into the field. But in this kind of tie vineyard, the sprayer becomes a small boat. It travels through the canal so it does not compact the soil or damage the grape roots. As it moves forward, spray nozzles on both sides send the mist toward the grape trellises, covering the leaves, vines and the bottom of the frame. Because the root is fixed, the speed is, and the spray angle stays the same. It sprays more evenly than manual work and misses fewer spots. Workers also do not have to stand in the chemical mist for long, so both efficiency and safety improve. Do you think this water-based vineyard design is smarter than a regular vineyard?
