Do plants grown in hydroponics have less nutrients? A lot of people assume that produce that you can get from hydroponics is not as nutritious as what you can get from the soil. But this isn't true. Let me tell you why. In a perfect world, a soil-based plant will get all of its nutrients from the soil. With decades of mismanagement, this isn't really possible without the help of fertilizers. This is actually really similar to hydroponic farms because we have to add in the nutrients for the plants. So what we're able to do is we're able to control the exact amount of nutrients inside of the water. Because of this we're able to perfect the amount of nutrients inside of the water and in crops like spinach and leafy greens we're able to get up to 30% more nutrients into the crops. So yes, hydroponics do have the same amount of nutrient as traditional farms and sometimes even more.
