Passive hydroponics are also known as the Kratky method. Start with a large mouth canning jar, 3 inch diameter net pot, hydroponic clay pellets, some nutrients and your seeds. Put some clay pellets in it and you put it into within a half an inch of the top. Get the pellets wet. You want it to be at the level of the clay pellets. 5 and 10 seeds and I'm going to spread it around and do the same thing here. Take my dark sock. For the first 2 to 4 weeks you don't actually have to add any water. The plants will have roots. Throw down and follow the water. When you add water after that 3 to 4 week period, you never add it above the bottom of the net pot. See, I'm adding water right through the clay pellets. I stop right there. Plants get their oxygen through this portion. You don't need any pumps or motors. They get their oxygen right here and they grow well and you're going to be eating lettuce or herbs in three to four weeks.
