Do green onions grow faster in soil or hydroponically? Since these are very expensive now I decided to grow them myself and I heard this method is more efficient than soil so I'm testing it out. You only need a wide mouth mason jar, these three inch net pots that fit perfectly in the jar, some leckoballs, nutrients and some socks. Fill the jar just above the bottom of the net pot, make sure to add the right ratio of nutrients and I I just bundled all my green onions together and added the leko balls around to hold them up. Now the socks are used to block out the sun to prevent algae growth, and it's easier to slip down to check the water level. I then trimmed them at the same height to compare the growth over the next couple weeks. Tune in to see which one grows faster. That was a bit higher.
