Two months after buying this plant, no matter what I did, I couldn't keep the water. So I decided to try something I hadn't tried before. Look, it's been a while, but I can still remember walking up to this bath sitting in the garden center and just picking her up. I could tell she was healthy by the thick green rigid leaves and bright white blooms. She looked incredible. But once I brought her home, every few days I'd look over and her leaves were drooping. I'd run and grab my watering can and water all the way through. And within a couple hours she looked great again. Then three days later the same thing happened all over again. Eventually I thought, I'm not fixing anything. I'm just treating the symptom. So I pulled her out of the pot. The soil looked fine, but she had outgrown the pot, leaving barely enough soil to hold the water that the roots needed. That's when I decided to try something completely different. My thinking was I'd grown spas in soil for years. So I figured I'd try growing her only in water, but plain water felt boring. So I added glass beads to the bottom of the vase to lift her higher and make it all come together, which I think completely transformed the plan. Look, that's why I love trying projects like this. If you do too, give me a follow and let's see what else we can grow together.
