At our farm, we use vertical farming techniques with aeroponic towers to grow strawberries, allowing us to save on water and space usage. Today we're going to show you how we grow 44 strawberry plants in one square meter, starting from bare root systems instead of starting them from seeds. This method saves on time and allows you to get strawberries much faster. Firstly, you will need to get bare root strawberries, which are crowns that have been removed from mother strawberry plants that are usually at least two years old. We start by taking our bear root strawberries and wash them in filtered water mixed with agricultural soap which helps to get rid of any insects, bacteria and pathogens. We proceed by retrofitting our net pots so that they can accommodate these roots. We simply cut a section on the back side of the net pot so that the roots will fit. Afterwards rinse your strawberry roots with water and get rid of any leftover agricultural soap. Next, it is time to put the roots in a substrate. Today, we're using agricultural rock wool. Simply cut the substrate in half and place the strawberry roots in between the rock wool. And then you're going to want to slide everything into a net pot, allowing for the roots to come out of the section that was cut. We are now going to assemble our aeroponic tower and load it up with all the bare strawberry roots by placing them inside the growing ports. Once everything is in the tower, make sure that the nutrient rich water is flowing correctly through the top section known as a shower cap. It then takes approximately 7 weeks until your strawberries reach maturity and you can harvest your strawberries from your Aeroponic Tower.
