How long do you normally soak your substrate? Because properly soaking your substrate is a crucial factor in vertical farming. For example, before we can harvest our crops from the aeroponics towers, we first take a sheet of rock wool that has precisely 98 individual cubes. We then recommend soaking the rock wool in water for 20 minutes until it is fully saturated. This process stabilizes the rock wool's pH at 5.5, which is the optimal level for seed germination. Once the seeds are added to the pre-soaked rock wool, we then add vermiculite, which is a naturally occurring mineral, and just like rock wool, it provides the perfect air to water ratio for seed germination. After the seedlings have grown to a transplantable size, you can break off the cubes of rock wool with each seedling and transplant them onto the aeroponic tower. And within 4 to 6 weeks after transplanting, you can harvest most leafy greens and aromatic herbs.
