This vertical farm is the perfect fusion between aquaponics and aeroponics. Where several hundred aeroponic towers are growing 25,000 pounds of culinary herbs annually inside a repurposed potato storage building. The plants grown in this farm use no soil and receive their nutrients from fish waste water produced by walleye fish which are also raised for consumption. All the plants in this vertical farm are grown using energy efficient LED grow lights mounted on an automated rail system, optimizing light distribution and reducing electricity consumption. Whether it is basil, mint, thyme, cilantro, lettuce or even tomatoes, this farm grows these crops year round even during the cold snowy winter months of Wisconsin. Since this indoor farm is inside a climate controlled environment where temperatures, humidity levels and CO2 levels are regulated. The aquaponics system begins with two 1,000 gallon tanks housing walleye fish that features a filtration system to maintain water clarity and freshness. A centrifugal pump transfers fish waste to a biofilter where nitrifying bacteria process the waste separating solids from nutrient rich water. The water undergoes further purification in a digested tank and in a clarifier tank before reaching the aeroponic towers to nourish the crops. And that is why
