Elon Musk has just confirmed where he is building what he calls the largest and most valuable building on Earth. It is called TerraFab, a chip factory in Grimes County, Texas, just north of Houston. Tesla and SpaceX are putting in $16.8 billion to get it started. The plan is more than 100 million square feet of manufacturing space. For scale, Tesla's Gigafactory in Texas is around 10 million. And everything happens in one place. Logic chips, memory, packaging and testing under a single root, which the companies say lets them improve. Designs far faster than the usual supply chain allows. What comes out of it? AI5 and AI6 chips for Optimus Robots and self-driving cybercabs plus high-power D3 chips built to run SpaceX's space-based data centers. Intel has already signed on to contribute and SpaceX filing suggest the full multi-phase build could eventually reach $119 billion. The site is set to employ at least 3,000 people from Grimes and Brazos counties and SpaceX says it will draw water from the Gibbons Creek Reservoir instead of local groundwater.
