Inside every smartphone is a system on a chip built from billions of transistors. When we zoom into a nanoscopic view of this SOC, we find an endless sea of transistors, each measuring only a few nanometers in size. These transistors are organized into groups of logic gates like OR, NAND and NOT gates and are technically called standard cells. being substantially larger and connecting the entire SOC together.
