Inside this NVIDIA graphics card is a GPU or graphics processing unit built from 28.3 billion transistors. When we zoom in, we can see all the transistors with layers of wires on top of them. This integrated circuit was manufactured on a 300 millimeter silicon wafer along with a total of 90 other GPU chips. The main machine used to print the pattern is a $200 million EUV photo lithography system, which uses EUV light to print it. When a new wafer arrives, one layer of each GPU chip is printed at a time, and printing all 90 chips across the wafer takes 18 seconds. As a result, this machine can process 4800 wafers a day, which is equivalent to nearly half a million microchips.
