AC and DC are the two types of electrical power to carry electrical energy. But their current behaves very differently. Let's start with AC, or alternating current. Its direction and polarity continuously reverse, creating an alternating waveform. In many power systems, this happens at 50 or 60 hertz. DC means direct current. In a steady DC circuit, the polarity remains constant and current flows in one direction. The biggest difference is simple. AC repeatedly changes direction, while steady DC maintains the same polarity and direction. AC is widely used for power distribution in motors. DC is common in batteries, electronics and solar systems. And converters allow us to change between them. AC and DC are not simply two names for electricity. Their behavior, applications and conversion methods are different. Understand the current before working on the circuit.
