Postprandial Therapy
Association between weight/body mass index and insulin dose requirements in gestational diabetes: a retrospective cohort study | BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care / Study setting and clinical algorithm
"Metformin and/or short-acting insulin are used for elevated postprandial glucose in accordance with patient preference (after discussing risks and benefits of both options and the unknown effects associated with transplacental passage of metformin) and the degree of postprandial hyperglycemia. When needed, short-acting insulin is titrated by regular (weekly or twice weekly) reviews by a diabetes dietician, diabetes specialist nurse, or diabetologist alongside the patient-led basal insulin titration."
