FAST Program
Canada has the strengths to lead in life sciences. Now will it? - The Globe and Mail / Ontario’s FAST program is proof it can work
"Mr. Magnelli points to Ontario’s Funding Accelerated for Specific Treatments (FAST) program as evidence that faster access and system sustainability are not mutually exclusive. Designed to accelerate access to select cancer medications, Ontario’s pilot program helped funded treatments attain public reimbursement about 60 per cent faster than similar high-priority medicines. In fact, where data was available, provincial listings in other provinces took up to four months longer than in Ontario, with an average delay of three months."
