Concept
Chromium Fluoride
Human Nutrition / Summary of Trace Minerals
"The recommended intake for chromium is 25–35 mcg/day. Chromium assists insulin in carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism. Deficiency can cause abnormal glucose metabolism, and malnourished children are a group at risk for deficiency. No UL is determined for chromium. Fluoride sources include fluoridated water, foods prepared in fluoridated water, and seafood. The recommended intake is 3–4 mg/day. Fluoride is a component of mineralized bone, provides structure and microarchitecture, and stimulates new bone growth. Deficiency increases the risk of dental caries, especially among populations with nonfluoridated water. Toxicity can cause fluorosis, mottled teeth, and kidney damage; the UL is 10 mg/day."
