"Burnout is a psychosocial response to chronic work-related stress. It includes emotional exhaustion, cynicism or depersonalization, and diminished effectiveness or personal accomplishment. Burnout can develop when people perceive that their efforts exceed the recognition, rewards, or results they receive and that their coping resources are insufficient."
