What is a risk factor?
Health Education Health 100 Version 3 / Risk Factors and Levels of Disease Prevention
"A risk factor is something that increases a person’s chance of developing a particular disease. Some risk factors, such as family history, sex, and ancestry, are largely beyond personal control, while others include diet, physical activity, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and drug misuse. Reducing controllable risks and receiving recommended screening can lower disease risk or identify disease early."
