Magnesium Sulfur
Human Nutrition / Summary of Major Minerals
"Magnesium sources include whole grains and legumes, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, beets, collards, and kelp. The recommended intake for adults is 420 mg/day. Magnesium is a component of mineralized bone and is involved in ATP synthesis and utilization and carbohydrate, lipid, protein, RNA, and DNA synthesis. Deficiency symptoms include tremor, muscle spasms, loss of appetite, and nausea; alcoholics and individuals with kidney and gastrointestinal disease are at risk. Toxicity may cause nausea, vomiting, and low blood pressure, and the upper limit is 350 mg/day. Sulfur is found in protein foods, and no recommended intake is specified. Sulfur contributes to the structure of some vitamins and amino acids and to acid-base balance. No deficiency occurs when protein needs are met, and no toxicity or upper limit is specified."
