Factors associated with persistent post-COVID-19 condition and functional limitation four years after SARS-CoV-2 infection | Scientific Reports / Strengths and limitations
"This study offers one of the longest longitudinal assessments of post–COVID-19 condition in Europe, with follow-up extending to four years after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. An additional strength is the predominantly non-hospitalized nature of the cohort, with more than 95% of participants having been managed without hospitalization during the initial infection. This broadens the available long-term evidence beyond previously hospitalized populations. By combining retrospective assessment of acute-phase symptomatology with prospective follow-up, it allowed the identification of early clinical characteristics associated with PCC and the evaluation of long-term changes in symptoms and functional outcomes, using the same standardized instruments at both time points."
