Slope Influence
Introduction to Soil Science / Soil Geography
"Slope affects water movement, erosion, infiltration, and sediment accumulation. Steep slopes increase water energy and erosion, while gentle or level areas slow water and encourage accumulation. Summits and shoulders generally have more infiltration, back slopes lose finer material, and foot slopes and toe slopes accumulate thicker, finer, and often more nutrient-rich deposits."
