Phyllosilicates
Introduction to Soil Science / Phyllosilicate Colloids and their Surface Chemistry
"Phyllosilicates are crystalline silicate clays with atoms arranged in repeating, paper-like layers that contain silicate tetrahedra. In 1:1 phyllosilicates, one tetrahedral sheet alternates with one octahedral sheet. In 2:1 phyllosilicates, an octahedral sheet is sandwiched between two tetrahedral sheets, with an interlayer that can contain ions and water."
