Plant-available Water
Introduction to Soil Science / Soil Water
"Plant-available water is the difference between the water content at field capacity and the water content at the permanent wilting point. Field capacity is the water remaining after gravitational drainage, while permanent wilting point is reached when plants cannot extract enough water to recover. The relationship is expressed as θPAW = θFC – θPWP."
